Individual and age-appropriate support
Content is tailored to each child’s age, learning level, and individual learning goals. With homework, I am there for children across all school subjects. In German specifically, targeted language support is added, structured around the following focus areas by age group.
Kindergarten
Support Methods
- Building language comprehension through games, read-alouds, and creative activities
- Learning grammar through play, using picture and colour cards (e.g. articles and sentence structure)
- Language stimulation through conversation, using hand puppets and toy figures
- Learning games such as Memory to reinforce and expand vocabulary
- Movement and ball games to improve and consolidate language skills, listening comprehension and communication
Years 1 & 2
Support Methods
- Vocabulary games on topics such as school, nature, animals, and feelings
- Playful storytelling using picture stories and everyday situations
- Grammar exercises through repetition of language patterns
- Short reading and writing exercises
- Movement and ball games to improve and consolidate language skills, listening comprehension and communication
- Role play to build confidence in speaking freely
Years 3 & 4
Support Methods
- Paired reading with short summaries
- Storytelling activities with picture stories and “reporter” tasks
- Grammar exercises through repetition of language patterns
- Short writing assignments with targeted error correction
- Strengthening subject-specific language through explanation and description
- Engaging Vocabulary games such as Categories or Taboo
- Role play for active use of the language
Years 5 & 6
Support Methods
- Reading practice with longer texts, targeted comprehension questions, and summaries
- Storytelling and argumentation activities (justifying opinions, short presentations, discussions)
- Vocabulary expansion through thematic word groups and synonym work
- Grammar exercises with targeted focus and application in the child’s own writing
- Writing practice with structured texts (e.g. reports, descriptions, short essays) and error correction
- Strengthening subject-specific language through explanation and description
- Developing learning strategies (highlighting, structuring, mind mapping) and strengthening independent study skills
- Role play and interactive exercises for active use of the language
